I have dabbled in painting for many years but recently a life altering event cause me to take another look at my life and what I do with my time. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November, 2009. There is nothing in the world that will make you want to grab life with both hands like the Big C! So after a year of treatments, surgeries and recovery time, I decided to stop procrastinating about doing the things I love, especially things I had let fall away in the daily grind. To get me started, I signed up for some art classes. That was the best thing I could have done. I will forever be grateful to Laine Barley for sharing her skills and passion for art with me. And most of all, I thank her for giving me the confidence to "put some paint on the canvas". Over the past year I have striven to paint every day. I am not always successful in that goal but I always try. The stack of paintings in my house is proof that I have succeeded more often than not. In fact it has come to the point where I am either going to have to sell some or stop painting. Stopping is not an option.
Therefore, this change, growth, expansion, whatever label you want to put on it, is necessary. Now I am NOT a computer person so I will muddle along on my own in what is likely to be a painful process; so please be patient with me while I slowly add content and additional pages to include all of our (read my) obsessions. We remain dedicated to providing the absolute best in custom jewelry at a reasonable price. We will simply be offering additional handcrafted and handpainted items from greeting cards to original art pieces as well as both of my published fiction novels. Thank you for your understanding and support as we embark on this new and exciting venture. Since our current website name does not include all we do, we will now be known as Art Plus Two. You can still find us by monkeyshinesjewelry.com for awhile, but eventually we will be simply artplustwo.com. In the coming days our look and logo will change but our dedication to quality and service will remain the same.

All of our designs are individually handmade. Many are one-of-a-kind so if you see something you like, don't hesitate or it may be gone. Items that are listed as in-stock are a true representation of the quality and overall design. However, please understand that just as every person is unique, so are gemstones. When we say it's made of garnet, it will be garnet but not all garnet is the exact shade of deep red. It is the same with turquoise. Not all of it has the same inclusions. We also make the silver drops individually and by hand, so no two will be exactly alike.
Whatever you purchase, you can rest assured that if it's from Art Plus Two, it will be a unique, handcrafted work of art.
